Resident Return Visa (RRV)
Have you held Australian permanent residency but your travel facility is about to expire? Permanent residency visas’ travel facilities generally last 5 years, and if you are not yet an Australian citizen, you will need a Resident Return Visa (RRV) to return to Australia. The RRV allows you to maintain your permanent residency status while travelling in and out of Australia.
Differences Between Subclass 155 and 157
The Subclass 155 RRV is generally granted to permanent residents or former citizens with strong ties to Australia. It typically provides a 5-year travel facility, letting you travel freely during this period.
The Subclass 157 RRV is for applicants who may have weaker or less recent connections to Australia. It usually provides a 12-month travel facility, allowing you to return to Australia while demonstrating your ties and commitment.
The subclass (155 or 157) will be determined by the Department of Home Affairs based on your circumstances.

You may be eligible to apply for an RRV if you:
