Parent visas
Parent visa
The Parent visa allows parents of Australian citizens and permanent residents to live in Australia permanently or temporarily to reunite and enjoy family life together. Australia offers several types of Parent visas to suit different circumstances, depending on your age, location at the time of application, and financial situation.

At Niche Migration, we understand the importance of keeping families together and can help you choose the most appropriate visa pathway for your needs.

Types of Parent Visas
There is a list of pathways available under the parent visa:

-
Contributory Parent Visa (Subclass 143 – Permanent)
-
Contributory Aged Parent Visa (Subclass 864 – Permanent)
-
Contributory Parent (Temporary) Visa (Subclass 173 – Temporary)
-
Contributory Aged Parent (Temporary) Visa (Subclass 884 – Temporary)

General eligibility for parent visas
To apply for a Parent visa, you must:

-
Be the biological, adoptive, or stepparent of an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen
-
Meet the Balance of Family Test, meaning at least half of your children live permanently in Australia, or more of your children live in Australia than in any other country
-
Have a sponsor, usually your child, who is an Australian citizen or permanent resident
-
Meet health and character requirements
-
For aged parent visas, be of Australian pension age at the time of application
Some subclasses also require you to be onshore at the time of application and decision, while others allow you to apply from outside Australia.

Assurance of Support (AoS)
For most Parent visas, the sponsor must provide an Assurance of Support, which is a financial commitment to support the applicant and avoid dependence on Australia’s welfare system. The AoS includes a bond and applies to each family unit included in the application.
